If Space has short cuts, our interstellar travel would be much easier!
Space travel has been part of our Science technology for almost a centaury now. But during space travel , the biggest trouble that we are facing is nothing but TIME!!! (4th dimension). Our Mars trip lasts over nearly 300 days and to Jupiter’s orbit it’s approximately 486-500 days. So, time is the only problem that we face out there. Now keep this to one side. On the other hand let’s imagine WORMHOLES. What exactly are wormholes? Click here to refer the basics of Wormhole. To be in precise wormholes are nothing but “SHORTCUT” in space. So, if we travel through a wormhole it precludes our space time travel and hence solving our problem. But, is this concept practically or even theoretically proven?
Tom Siegfried published an article in August 2016 called “A new Einstein’s equation suggests wormholes hold the key to Quantum gravity” We know that Wormholes when technically speaking , it is known as ‘Einstein-Rosen Bridge‘. Rosen collaborated with Einstein on a paper describing them in 1935. And another paper Einstein published with Rosen along with another physicist Podolsky. For decades nobody seriously considered that the both two papers co-related . But in 2013, Physicist Juan Maldacera and Leonard Susskind proposed that in the same sense, wormholes and entanglement describe the same thing. And they had found this equation that would male Einstein feel proud . And it is pretty easy to remember “ER=EPR“. Letters in this equation stands for the physicist’s name. E for Einstein , R for Rosen , P for Podolsky. And the above said equation mainly relates two things, first thing is Quantum mechanics in the LHS of the equation that deals with worm holes and all and secondly its general relativity in the RHS of the equation and it deals with gravity. And this equation is theoretically proven. And according to this equation we could create our own worm holes using the entangled particles. Entangled particles are nothing but anti correlated particles (i.e.) in case of numbers if we are considering +1 the other would be -1, similarly with the particles too. The process is considered to be if you have one of the particles and I have the other one and we both fly apart to the corner of the Earth and then squeeze our particle so densely at the same time that it becomes a black hole. This equation “ER=EPR” holds the key to most of the Astronomical problems and if it is possible we could harness the gravity.
This equation (i.e.) ER=EPR is theoretically proven but not practically tested. To test this we need to choose the entangled particle. But still if this equation is practically possible , we could use this technology and that could reduce so many things like the price, spaceship fuel and especially TIME.
