Idea of Commercializing Space Sector

Ever since 3114 BC, Mayan astronomers had been observing the night sky. But space travel
happened only in the 20th century. It has been 60 years since the first human (Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin) travelled to the Earth’s orbit. As of 2019, only 571 people from all around the world have gone to the orbit. Going to space takes a huge effort and money for the Space sectors. For NASA, it costs approximately 152 million dollars per launch. Using space for commercial purposes will not do any advantage for the space sectors. But, with the advanced technology and with the welcoming of multiple private space sectors that develop reusable spacecraft, actually provides independent space travel to the common people.

Commercial space flight has made huge investment into the development of a reusable launch vehicle (RLV) through which the larger payloads can be taken to the orbit. Commercial space sectors like SpaceX, Blue Origin, Virgin Galactic, Blue Moon (a collaboration with SpaceX) are yet to make space travel a liable one.

With these developing commercial space sectors, the cost of space flight is starting to reduce dramatically. Right now, to have an experience with zero gravity, it may cost $200,000 for a person. This could be afforded only by the richest person in World. If the industry grows and space sectors compete to develop the cheapest ride into space, the price can even reduce more. Every time for space travel, if they use a reusable booster, the people will only need to pay the crew and fuel cost. Space tourism might actually become a new business and also is a challenging task as it requires manned spacecraft. But on the brighter side, a few years ago, people who were associated with activities with space for governments and in space sectors have considered the idea of Orbital Space Tourism organized by private companies as a ridiculous idea. This is becoming a reality now and also there will be an enormous change in the cost of space tourism. Space hotels like Voyager Station are no exception for space experience.

These commercial space flights not just give us the experience of travelling to space, but they also provide better communication systems. Commercial satellite communication (SATCOM) could be the best example. Using space for commercials helps us in other small yet significant ways like Satellite imagery, navigation and also to recover space resources. Satellite imagery provides us with high-resolution images. Satellite navigation is more useful for military applications. It gives the exact precision to direct and locate themselves to the target. Or for a common person, it is most useful in a name called Google maps or Apple Maps. More the satellites, more the junk in orbit. But it is more efficient for humans.

Soon, humans will experience a new era. An era where they can see the growth of the
commercialization of space
; where humans know no bounds to Earth; visiting space will no longer be a dream for an average person. The collaboration of Government space sectors and private space sectors will be seen. An era where innovation gives power to reach the unreachable!
